Teenage Orthodontics

Orthodontics during the teen years is a modern rite of passage into young adulthood. At Pure Orthodontics, we celebrate this milestone with your child and the beautiful and confident smile it brings. Orthodontics usually lasts from 12 months to a few years, but a healthy, glowing smile can be an asset that lasts a lifetime.

Our specialist orthodontists, Dr Tracey Shell and Dr Phillip Goh, perform orthodontic evaluations for all age groups, but the early teenage years is when most people undergo treatment. At this time, the adult teeth have usually erupted and the child is generally still growing which is important when correcting many bite problems.

Benefits of Teen Orthodontic Treatment

While most teens seek treatment to improve their aesthetic appearance, there are also important health and functional benefits.  Incorrect bites can contribute to abnormal and irreversible wear of the teeth, gum problems and difficulty cleaning. Many teens who undergo treatment also enjoy improved confidence and increased self-esteem, which is a wonderful thing.

Treatment Options for Teenagers

Your teenager can be treated with either braces or clear aligners. One of our Orthodontists will advise you whether braces or Clear aligners is the better option for correcting your teen’s particular bite problem.  In many cases, the teeth can be straightened equally well with either method, so it’s just a matter of letting us know what suits your teen best.
