Dr Tracey Shell, BDSc, Grad Dip Clin Dent (Ortho), MDSc

Specialist Orthodontist

In 2001, Tracey qualified as an orthodontist and in 2006 opened Pure orthodontics in Moonee Ponds. Tracey loves being an orthodontist because of the difference it can make to a person’s life.  Aside from the physical transformation that comes with straight teeth, she really loves seeing her patient’s self-esteem improve.  Her favourite thing is getting to the end of a patient’s orthodontic journey and looking back at the photographs taken along the way.

Tracey obtained both her Dental Science degree and her Masters Degree in Orthodontics at The University of Melbourne. She has reviewed several books and articles for The Australian Orthodontic Journal and the prestigious American journal, The Angle Orthodontist. She has also held a clinical teaching position at The University of Melbourne and is involved in the seminar programme for the current group of orthodontic students.

Tracey has given lectures locally, interstate and overseas, and regularly attends orthodontic conferences which keep her up to date with the latest developments in her field. She holds professional memberships with the Australian Society of Orthodontists, the Australian Dental Association, the American Association of Orthodontists and the World Federation of Orthodontists. She is a registered specialist orthodontist with the Dental Board of Australia and is a past President of the Victorian Branch of the Australian Society of Orthodontists.

In her spare time, she loves being with her husband and her three beautiful children.  She also enjoys cooking, doing anything creative, especially painting, and exercising.  She does sometimes struggle with the latter!

Dr. Phillip Goh, BDSc (Hons), DClinDent (Orth), MRACDS (Orth)

Specialist Orthodontist

We are excited to announce Dr Phillip Goh has joined the team here at Pure Orthodontics!

Dr. Phillip Goh grew up in Melbourne, before moving to Brisbane to study dentistry & orthodontics at The University of Queensland. He graduated as valedictorian and with first class honours, before working as a Public Dental Officer in Bundaberg, and then in private general dental practice in Toowoomba and Brisbane.

After completing the Primary Examination in General Dental Practice with commendations, he returned to The University of Queensland, completing his DClinDent (Orth) specialist training in orthodontics and gaining membership to the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons.

Since that time, he has been in private specialist orthodontic practice on the Gold Coast and Brisbane. Dr. Goh also continues to teach as an Associate Lecturer at The University of Queensland, educating undergraduate dental students about orthodontics, and training future specialist orthodontists in clinical orthodontic treatment. He has also published research on conservative, non-surgical treatment for impacted maxillary canines, as well as Invisalign clear aligners.

Outside of his passion for creating confident and beautiful smiles, he enjoys the great outdoors, dining out, and relaxing with friends and family.
